Funeral Mass for John J. Kostelnik, 64, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Kostelnik passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born Jan. 7, 1954, in East Cleveland, he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County, living in Willoughby and Thompson before moving to Mentor.
John was a 1973 graduate of Willoughby South High School, as the track record holder of the 440. He received a scholarship to Cathedral Latin High School for football his freshman year. John attended St. Mary’s Church in Mentor and Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby. John loved camping and was a true outdoorsman.
He was the loving father of Michael (Jessica) Kostelnik; cherished grandfather of four; beloved son of Mickey and Mary (nee Clifford) Kostelnik; brother of Thomas (Linda) Kostelnik, Connie (Gerry) Theobald, Marla Trisler, Bill Kostelnik, Nancy McLaughlin, Patty (Kevin) Byrnes, Carol (Tommy) Plaitano, Gail (Ken) Brugh, Ken (Valerie) Kostelnik and Kevin (Danyeill) Kostelnik; uncle of 41; and great-uncle of many.
John was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Peggy Kostelnik; and grandparents, Mary and Mike Kostelnik, Rose and Roland Clifford.
Family will receive friends from 12 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
