Obituary for Rose Marie McGinty
Rose Marie (nee Christani) McGinty, 84, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at her residence.
Born March 16, 1934, in Beaverdale, Pa., she had been a resident of Lake County for 47 years, living in Mentor before moving to Mentor-on-the-Lake.
Rose was a volunteer at the Mentor Library and Lake Hospital System, was an avid reader, had a wickedly great sense of humor, played and learned the organ at the invitation of Mrs. Patterson and donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She had worked at the Kirtland Country Club, National Acme and Home Health Care Companion.
Rose was the loving mother of Alan J. McGinty (Mary Foley), and Cheryl L. (Blair) Runyeon; cherished grandmother of Abby McGinty, Thomas McGinty, Stephen (Stephanie) Heiss, Kevin Heiss and Shannon (Doug) Skaife; great-grandmother of Zander, Vanessa and Mia; sister of Bruno Christani, Ilene (John) Krupka and Dino (Maureen) Christani; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred G. McGinty; daughter, Peggy L. McGinty; parents, John and Sylvia (nee Minetti) Christani; brother, Raymond Christani; and sisters-in-law, Mary Christani and Jean Christani.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor, where a funeral service will be conducted 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
