Obituary for Warren H. Goodwin

Warren H.   Goodwin
Warren H. Goodwin age 94, was born on April 3, 1922 and passed away peacefully at his home in Mentor on November 8, 2016. He was the cherished husband for 39 years of Geraldine "Annie" (nee Paik); loving father of Joyce (Timothy deceased) O'Brien; Jillian (Daniel) Hauenstein; and James (Elizabeth) Goodwin; special grandfather of Erica (Joshua) Morgan, Sarah (Marcus) Dirk, James Goodwin, David Goodwin; Richard Woods (deceased); and great-grandfather of Mary Jillian Morgan. He was a wonderful brother-in-law to Anthony & Dolores Mihelich and enjoyed good times with his many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Harvey and John. Warren was a World War II Veteran and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1945. He joined the Euclid Police Department in 1949 and retired in 1977 as a Captain and Executive Officer. Later, he became of Director of the Lake County Narcotics Agency where he remained for seven years, and then served as Chief Deputy of the Lake County Sheriff's Office until his retirement in 1992. Warren was a proud member of the Euclid FOP, Euclid Veterans Club, American Legion Post 343, and was active in the Euclid Kiwanis Club for many years. He will be remembered as a man who was strong, compassionate, loved his family, his country, and always ready and willing to help others. The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Western Reserve Mentor Homecare Team for their excellent care and support which they provided for Warren. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., (Rt. 615, north of Rt. 2), Mentor, with a celebration of life at 4 p.m. Contributions may be made in memory of Warren to the David Simpson Hospice House, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119.
