Obituary for John Charles Francis

Private services were held for John Charles Francis, 64, of Madison.
Mr. Francis passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Cardinal Woods Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Madison.
Born Aug. 1, 1952, in Cleveland, he had been a Lake County resident for more than 55 years, living in Willoughby before moving to Madison.
John was a 1970 graduate of Willoughby South High School and played baseball while in high school. He was a very talented musician and played just about anything he got his hands on. John was a member of the Musician’s Union and played with The Selections and various others. At one time, he had a magical voice.
He was the former husband of Milene Ruple Francis Horst of Eastlake; father of John B. Francis (Melanie Reed) of Saybrook; stepfather of Shannon Horst Soltis of Eastlake; grandfather of Miranda Francis, Zane Francis, Nathan Reed and Jordon Coleman; and brother of Stephen Francis of Medina.
John was preceded in death by his parents, David and Margaret (nee Gowe) Francis.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made in care of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
