Edward Thomas  Boyd
Edward Thomas Boyd, known as “Butch” by his family, died June 15, 2017, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland.
Eddie was born April 26, 1940, in Shamokin, Pa., to a middle class family who moved to the Cleveland area to give him other options than working in the coal mines. He attended East High and Max Hayes, where he learned to be a skilled machinist.
His employment included White Motors, Eaton Axle, Towmotor-CAT and B.F. Goodrich (Cleveland Pneumatic). Through his working career, he was involved in the UAW in some capacity including President of Local 790 and Chief Steward at Goodrich. Once a union man, always a union man.
Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia A. (nee Loren); adoring daughter, Kelley M. (Eddie) Marotta; loving son, Edward T. Boyd (Gina Lyons); granddaughters, Candace R. (Jeff) Vahcic, Kayla M. Spadaro, Carly Ann Spadaro, and Rachel A. Boyd; longtime family member, Angelo Spadaro; his first great-grandchild due to arrive in September; sisters, Ruth Boyd-Perz and Mary Ellen (Terry) Reynolds; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; a great-great-niece; as well as the loud Loren family; and U.A.W. brothers, Don Horvat, Gary Thomas and Otis Dotson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marian.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a memorial service to be conducted at 4:30 p.m.
