A Celebration of Life service for Janet M. Becker, 82, of Poland, Ohio, formerly of Wickliffe, will 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, OH 44512. Rev. Shawn Dickerson will officiate. A committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 435 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Village, OH 44143.
Janet passed away peacefully July 12, 2017, at Assumption Village Nursing Center in North Lima.
She was born July 24, 1934, in Cleveland.
Janet was a Girl Scout leader and professional as well as an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. She also loved to read, and missed volunteering at the Cleveland Playhouse. She took delight in her grandsons.
Janet had worked as a bookkeeper for various companies, including Jote’s.
She was the loving mother of Karen A. Becker (Tom Evans), and William L. (Angela) Becker; cherished grandmother of Timothy and Bradley Becker; sister of Jacqueline Schwemler of Stow; and aunt of Martha Skinner, Sara Morra and John P. Schwemler. She also leaves her beloved Boston terrier, Lexie Sue.
Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen M. Becker; and parents, Howard and Hetty (nee Spayd) Wilkins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name are suggested to a local pet rescue or animal charity in your area or to St. James Episcopal Church.
The family wishes to thank the caring aides, nurses and therapy staff at The Assumption Village.
