John Alfred "Al"  Johnson
John Alfred “Al” Johnson, 61, of Perry, went to be with the Lord Sept. 12, 2017, with his devoted wife at his side.
Al was born April 21, 1956, in Clifton Forge, Va., to Ben and Sara Johnson. He was the joy of their lives.
Al graduated from Willoughby South High School in 1974. There he fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Kathleen McNiece, who he later married. He attended Ohio University before beginning work at Republic Steel. Al was a proud member of USWA Local 1179, retiring from “the mill” after 33 years.
Growing up, Al was active in 4-H Saddle Horse clubs and continued to be involved in local agriculture as a member of Lake County Farm Bureau.
Al is survived by his parents, Ben and Sara; wife of 38 years, Kathleen; son, Justin (Maria); daughters, Alicia and Morgan (Shane); grandchildren, Tristan (age 6), William (age 6 months), and an expected grandbaby due in February 2018; brother, Mark (Debbie); sister, Sara Jane (Jimmy) Bissig; many nieces and nephews including his treasured niece, Rochelle (Dale) Burklund and Godson, Jake Alfred Miracle.
Al was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff; sister-in-law, Kathy; mother-in-law, Dolores; and son, Zachary.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with a service to follow at Kirtland Bethel Bible Church, 10172 Chillicothe Road, Kirtland.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
