Nelson Colon Arvello, 83, of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, formerly of Eastlake, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at Pavia Hospital in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
Born Feb. 4, 1934, in Laris, Puerto Rico, he had lived in Eastlake before moving back to Puerto Rico 27 years ago.
Nelson had worked for Packaging Corp. of America in Mentor for 23 years as a press operator prior to his retirement.
Nelson was the beloved husband of 50 years to Barbara (nee Bootz) Arvello; loving father of Becky Lynn (Frank) Arvello D’Onofrio, Maria (Julio) Aviles, Alberto Colon, Cynthia Colon (Jon) Ickes, Thomas L. (Fern) Mance, Randal S. (Tracy) Mance, Christopher A. Mance, Lisa M. (Paul) Mance Young; cherished grandfather of Michael, Britney, Tina, Hope, Jacob, Gina, Amanda, Heather, Olivia, Melissa, Kendra, Nate, Brandon, Brycen, Jovan, Mandi, Maria, Elzabeth Ann, Jay, Tanisha, Christian and Cody; great-grandfather of Kaylee, Aiden, Zander, Liam, Karina, Sofia, Cecilia, Hunter, River, Maddaena, Davon, Daniel, Sevannah, and Alianna; brother of Alberto (Nancy) Arbelo, Abraham Colon, Wilfrado (Annie) Colon Arvelo and Edwin (Angie) Colon; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jaun Colon and Cecila Avila (nee Arvelo) Colon; grandchildren, Shena and Tyler; and siblings, Wally (Karen) Colon and William Colon.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a memorial service to be conducted at 4 :30 p.m. Richard P. Bootz, his brother-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be private.
