Obituary for John Capp

Funeral Mass for John Capp, 90, of Painesville Township, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at St. Gabriel’s Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township. Fr. Jeremy Merzweiler, will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Mr. Capp passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village in Willoughby.
Born March 10, 1927, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for 57 years, living in Willowick before moving to Painesville Township.
John honorably served in the U.S. Army 88th Infantry Division during World War II, and was also a longtime member of the Sharpey’s Social Club.
Mr. Capp was a physics engineer and metallurgist, retiring from G.E. in 1988, and Parker Hannifin in 2005.
He was the loving father of Karen (Carl) DeFilippo, Kathy (Mark) Monda and Kim (John) Fedakowski; cherished grandfather of Allison (Chris) Werman, Lauren McLean, Dana Shunkwiler, Alyssa Fedakowski, Rachel Fedakowski and Jack Fedakowski; great-grandfather of Macy and Clark Werman; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Alice (nee Krajewski) Capp; daughter, Tina; and siblings and their spouses, Nick (Stella) Cap, Rose (John) Vacil, Steve (Mary) Cap and Mary (Ray) Fenner.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
