Obituary for Peter J Leonello

Peter J  Leonello
Funeral Mass for Peter J. Leonello, 89, of Willoughby, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Justin Martyr Church, 35781 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake.
Mr. Leonello passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living in Mentor.
Born Jan. 24, 1928, in Willoughby, he had been a lifetime Lake County resident.
Peter was a U.S. Army veteran, a founding member of St. Justin Martyr Church in Eastlake, American Legion Post 678 Willowick/Eastlake, V.F.W. Post 3863 in Eastlake, and Fairport Harbor V.F.W. Post 7754. He loved his kids, was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and enjoyed gardening, conversation and a good cup of coffee.
Mr. Leonello worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the Willowick branch, retiring in 1999.
He was the former husband of Patricia (nee McDevitt) Leonello; loving father of Patricia A. (Jim) Leonello-Hoffman, Fred J. (Becky) Leonello, Cathi M. Leonello and Bill A. Leonello; father-in-law of Cindy Leonello; cherished grandfather of John (Lina) Leonello, Steven (Courtney) Leonello, Brett Gallo and Hannah Leonello (Michael Kuczeryn); great-grandfather of Rylee, Brooklyn, Evelyn and Vanessa; brother of Florence Luthanen, James (Doris) Leonello, Sarah (Richard) Lang and Nancy Leonello; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinando “Fred” and Annuciatta “Nancy” (nee Surace) Leonello; siblings, Grace Martello, Henry Leonello and Dominic Leonello; and brothers-in-law, Donald Luthanen and Nick Martello; and sister-in-law, Mary Leonello.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
