Obituary for Nancy Elizabeth Boothe

Funeral Mass for Nancy E. (nee Van Volkenburg) Boothe, 60 years young, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Fr. Tom Johns will officiate.
Nancy was called to the side of her loved ones on the sunny afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018. She passed peacefully, in the presence of her loving husband with their hands clasped in an embrace.
Nancy is survived by husband, David Boothe; sons, David and Andrew Boothe; mother, Ethel Van Volkenburg of Erie, Pa.; brothers, David Van Volkenburg of Erie, Pa., Tom Van Volkenburg of Erie, Pa., Mark Van Volkenburg of Pittsburgh, Pa., Bob Van Volkenburg of Columbus, and Mike Laslow of Ashtabula; sisters, Patty Mangold of Erie, Pa., and Rozeanne Laslow of Ashtabula; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Van Volkenburg.
She loved her sons, husband, family and friends, beyond what words can express. Nancy was an unyielding spirit and her charm, wit, and kindness, captivated all those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. She endured great suffering during the battle, but always with uncommon grace and a loving heart. “Our profound sense of loss is balanced only by the realization that the suffering has ended and now she can be at peace.”
The family will be happy to receive friends at her visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Burial will be at Mentor Municipal Cemetery in Mentor at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, her wishes were to encourage contributions in her memory to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or “The Gathering Place,” at 23300 Commerce Center Park, Beachwood, OH 44122 Tel. (216) 595-9546.
