Obituary for Nanette Magdalyn Scott

Nanette Magdalyn Scott
Nanette Magdalyn Scott, 62, of Mentor, went home to be with the Lord Feb. 11, 2018. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 9, 1955, in Beaver Falls, Pa., and had been a resident of Lake County for 27 years.
Nanette was a passionate woman with a strong faith in God. Her commitment to always helping others shone through in every aspect of her life. In her younger years, she was actively involved in her children’s PTA at school and was the Treasury Officer of her son’s Boy Scout Troop.
In her mid-40s, she went back to college seeking a degree in nursing. During these years she excelled academically and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. Shortly thereafter, she became the Fellowship Officer for this group and led numerous events for charitable causes. As a strong advocate for the prevention of child abuse, she single handedly formed a Parents Anonymous group in her area, where she provided support, assistance and hope to struggling families. She also put together a walk against child abuse in 2007, in order to raise awareness in her community. She held the mantra, “The children are our future,” and was dedicated to being the voice for those unable to speak for themselves.
“Speak for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being oppressed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless and see that they get justice.” ~ Proverbs 21: 8-9
When she wasn’t off fighting for a cause, she could be found taking care of her family, crafting plastic canvas, cooking or tending to her garden. Nanette will be remembered as a strong, outspoken, fun-loving woman, who radiated love and beauty everywhere she went. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, who will be missed dearly.
Nanette was the beloved wife of Robert Scott; loving mother of Natalie (Adam) Roberts, Jerod Scott, Philip Janout and Tom Janout; sister of Sherry, Nicki, Cindy, Helen and Bill; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Stella M. (nee Penkasik) Mable.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor, with a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. Pastor Denny Hoynes will officiate. Burial will be private.
