Obituary for Dante S. Zarlenga Sr.

Dante S.  Zarlenga Sr.
Dante S. Zarlenga, Sr. age 93, of Concord Township passed away on Mar. 2, 2018 at the Hospice of Western Reserve, Cleveland, with his loving wife of 70 years by his side.
Dante was born in New York City and moved to Youngstown, Ohio as an infant. He served as a U.S. Navy signalman in World War II in the European, Mediterranean and Pacific Theaters. He graduated with a Bachelor Engineering degree from Youngstown State University and practiced as a Professional Engineer doing custom machine design. He was the owner and President of Zarlenga Industries for 25 years. Dante received the Business of the Year Award from the Mentor Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Association before retiring in 2000. Dante was active in the Knights of Columbus as a fourth degree Knight, as well as other service and social clubs.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Joann; children, Joseph (Patricia) of Mentor, Dante, Jr. (Gloria) Ellicott City, Maryland, Carol (Dave) Kalina and David (Madelyn) of Concord Township; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dante was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Zarlenga; sister, Marie Zarlenga; brother, John Zarlenga; and sister, Anna Slifka.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Lake Health TriPoint Medical Center in Concord, and the Hospice of the Western Reserve for their caring and professional services.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., (Route 615, north of Route 2) Mentor. Family and friends to meet at church Wednesday, March 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor. Dante will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio. Contributions can be made in Dante’s name to St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church in Mentor, Ohio and Hospice of Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland OH 44110.
