Obituary for LaVerne Marie Smith

Funeral services for LaVerne Marie "Cici" Smith, 87, formerly of Euclid, will be 10 a.m. Monday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Pastor Denise Cunningham-Doggett of LakeShore Christian Church in Euclid will officiate.
LaVerne passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at The Bloom Assisted Living Center in Lakewood.
Born March 13, 1931, in Cleveland, she had been a lifetime resident of Cuyahoga County, living in Euclid before moving to Lakewood.
LaVerne was a member of Lake Shore Christian Church in Euclid and a former member of Grace United Church of Christ in Cleveland. She was a season ticket holder and lifelong Cleveland Browns fan. For the last 50 years of her life, her family had lovingly nicknamed her, “Cici.”
LaVerne had worked for Aetna Life & Casualty Co., as a unit manager prior to her retirement.
She was the sister-in-law of Susan Smith; dear aunt of Kip Smith of Lakewood and Michelle Carr of Mentor; great-aunt of Caitlyn Carr, Brittani Smith, Gabrielle Smith, Alexander Knapp, Lucas Smith, Owen Knapp, and Cody Carr; and special cousin of Marilyn Melison.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Otto and Josephine Molly (nee Marvar) Smith; brother, Richard Smith; and nephews, Frank and Michael Smith.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at The Abbey of Willoughby. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
