Obituary for Thomas E. Murphy
Funeral services for Thomas E. Murphy, 95, of Mentor, will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. His grandson, Rev. Jeremy E. Murphy will officiate.
Mr. Murphy passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born Sept. 30, 1922, in Cleveland, he had lived in Euclid before moving to Lake County 55 years ago.
Tom was a 32nd Degree Mason, loved the stock market and enjoyed giving advice to people. He also liked building model houses for model railroading and enjoyed roller skating.
He was the beloved husband of 73 years to Jeanne L. (Lehtinen) Murphy; loving father of Timothy A. (Fran) Murphy, Martin T. (Brenda) Murphy and Ned C. Murphy; cherished grandfather of Chris (Amy), Dave, Andy (Deanna), Jeremy (Amy), and Shannon (Marcus) Grampa; and great-grandfather of Ian, Jill, Jack, Maggie, Sarah, Charlotte, Alex, Hannah, Giuliana, Victoria and Adriana.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, T.O. and Gertrude (nee Edwards) Murphy; and sister, Gertrude Munton.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
