Funeral Mass for Melissa S. (nee Moore) Gernhard, 66, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.
Mrs. Gernhard passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby, surrounded by family.
Born Oct. 8, 1951, in Cleveland, she had been a resident of Lake County for the past 24 years.
Melissa was a member of St. John Vianney Church, was an avid reader and enjoyed going to casinos.
She was the beloved wife of 24 years to Alan F. Gernhard; loving mother of Brenda S. (Jeff) Thrower and Valerie A. Melnikas; cherished grandmother of Jeffrey, Jonathan, Carmen, Dylan and Isabella; dear sister of Sandra Moore, Clinton (Kathy) Moore and Dennis (Kathleen) Moore; loving sister-in-law of Jean Gernhard, Gerald Gernhard, and others; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Alvina (nee Stangel) Moore.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
