Celebrations-of-Life

Many families today want a service which celebrates the life of their loved one. We introduce them to the concept of a celebration-of-life, and provide support in designing a celebration-of-life that is as unique as the life of their loved one.  In addition to reviewing the points below; if you'd like to learn more about celebrations-of-life, we invite you to read the section celebrate a life

How to Plan a Celebration-of-Life

When making arrangements for a celebration-of-life, it might help to imagine how they might answer the question, "What would you like us to do in celebration of your life?"

  • Use their favorite music as the background to the event. You could also create a mixed CD of these selections to give guests.
  • Pick a location that had meaning to the deceased. A favorite restaurant, beach, or the 18th hole of a golf course.
  • Incorporate a favorite sports team, author, vacation destination, or television show within the celebration. We've heard of celebrations-of-life where everyone was asked to wear Hawaiian shirts or team jerseys.
  • Ask everyone to share one memory of the deceased. It can be a funny moment, an observation, or a lesson learned.
  • Use photos or home videos in a slideshow or tribute video. You can also showcase photos in the room or venue.
  • If you are serving food, feature the foods or beverages they enjoyed in the menu. Eating and sharing special foods can be very comforting.
  • Display special objects of the deceased. Perhaps it's their collection of china tea cups, hand-tied fishing lures, or model trains.

Celebrations-of-life are intended to lift everyone's spirits by focusing on positive memories. And as we wrote in the above introduction, if you'd like to learn more about celebrations-of-life, we invite you to read the section celebrate a life. There you'll discover how our experience in arranging and hosting celebrations-of-life will guide you in the process. Give us a call at (440) 942-0700.
