Charles A  Long
Funeral Mass for Charles A. Long, 79, of Willoughby, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, with visitation to be held one hour prior to the mass at the church. Fr. Tom Johns will officiate the Mass. (Family and friends are asked to please meet at church.)
Mr. Long passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, at his residence.
Born June 13, 1938, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for the past 49 years.
Charles was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran and member of the D.A.V. He was also a member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor.
He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Arlene M. (nee Penza) Long; loving father of Charlene A. Long, Christine E. Long, Charles F. (Yenny) Long, Virginia C. Long (John Miklavcic) and (Eric Fernandez); cherished grandfather of Sonny Fernandez, Anthony “A.C. Flex” Miklavcic, Nathan “Nate Dog” Miklavcic, Paige “Poopsie” Graewe, Sebastian Long, Diego Long and Lucas Long; brother of Mary Ann Glew, and Michael (Helen) Long; uncle of nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dog, “Joe.”
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lillian (nee Smith) Long; and sisters, Colleen (Louis, dec.) Zgonc and Kathleen Neuber.
Burial will be private.
The family suggests contributions in his name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
