Wonderful Friend

We met Cliff in 1973 in Eastlake at Carl & Sues house, as you could find him and JR there every weekend playing cards. Cliff was very friendly and outgoing and a loyal friend. Cliff was known for getting in the car and going for a drive and end up in Buffalo getting an ice cream cone. You never knew where his drives would end up, he just liked to drive in his car. In the last 8 years, he started joining us at the Amish Dinners, which are fundraisers for their schools. Cliff, Carl, and Sue would drive out here to Andover and visit Cherry Valley Furniture and then come to our place and then on to the dinner. The one I distinctly remember was the very first time he came for the dinner, (you donate what you think the dinner is worth), he donated, went through the line and got his food and met us at the table. He set his tray down and said he'd be back. He went back and gave them more money, he said it was worth more than what he originally gave for his meal. He was that kind of person, thoughtful and never wanting to take advantage of anyone. He has not missed many of these dinners (3 a year), but the last dinner in August he was in the hospital and had told Carl, I dont think Im going to make the Amish dinner. They took him to Rehab that day and he did not make the dinner. Cliff was a wonderful friend and will be in our hearts forever. Rest In Peace Cliff and we will meet you again one day in Heaven. Much Love from the Shockeys
