Howard Egbert Horn, 81, of Mentor, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Burton Health Care Center in Burton.
Born Mar. 7, 1937 in Ashtabula, he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County.
Howard retired from Lake Erie Iron.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a former member of Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church.
Howard was an actor in the Mentor Teachers Association plays and a member of a singing group.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Mentor High football and Kirtland sports and loved golfing and water sports and was a black belt in karate. He was well loved by his family.
Howard was the loving husband to Mary Ann (nee Clark) Horn; father of Jill (Ken) Hart and Julie (Gary) Lewis; grandfather of Chelsea (Jerry) Rubino; Chloe and Cameron Hart, Owen, Kate and Anna Lewis; brother of Nina Patton; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Harriet Horn; brother, William (Donna) Horn; and brother-in-law Robert Patton.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home,
6330 Center St., Mentor (Route 615, north of Route 2). Private family burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, 69 Pearl St., Painesville OH 44077.
