Obituary for Robert A "Corky" Heckman

Funeral Mass for Robert A. “Corky” Heckman, 77, of Willowick, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. His nephew, Fr. Tom Johns, will officiate the Mass.
Mr. Heckman passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born July 3, 1941, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Willowick for the past 48 years.
Corky was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, and member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Willowick, the Irish American Club-East Side Inc., in Euclid, American Legion Post 678 in Willowick. He loved his family and grandchildren, enjoyed golfing and sports, and loved all animals.
Mr. Heckman had worked at Sanymetal Products in Cleveland for more than 30 years, and for Fluid Line Products in Willoughby, before retiring in 2008.
Corky was the beloved husband of 51 years to Carla A. (nee Biro) Heckman; loving father of Kelly A. (Tom) Kunsman; cherished grandfather of Daniel, Matthew and Robby; brother of Edward “Eddie” (JoAnn) Heckman; brother-in-law of Norm (Marge) Ockuly, Marlene Heckman, Ann Heckman and Betty Heckman; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his pets, his dog, Angel; and cat, Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret (nee Gallagher) Heckman; and siblings, Agnes Ockuly, Margaret “Peggy” (Vern, dec.) Johns, Frank “Buddy” Heckman, Mary (Bill, dec.) Mullee, and James Heckman.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
