Obituary

Funeral Mass for Mary Ann Batton (nee Skrocki), 84, of Wickliffe, will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe.
Mrs. Batton died Dec. 2, 2018, at University Hospitals in Cleveland surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Cleveland, and had been a resident of Lake County for 58 years.
Mrs. Batton was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and an extremely hard worker who always put her family first. She made sure others were always cared for, whether at home, at work as a waitress, or as a committed volunteer at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Wickliffe.
Mrs. Batton relentlessly worked to keep her family happy and healthy. She constantly looked for more ways to give more time to her church, in case one more hour could make more of a difference. And she always cooked too much food at every family dinner, so that no one would ever go hungry. Time and time again, no matter who was watching or what the cost, she kept giving to the people she loved and she never met someone in need she didn’t try to help.
Survivors are her children, Debra B. (Dr. Paul) Kaput of Richfield, and Theresa B. (Joseph) Lors of Willoughby; and grandchildren, Michael B. (Kate) Kaput, Margaret M. Kaput, William J. Lors and Clare E. Lors.
She was preceded in death by Glen, her loving husband of 52 years; and parents, Anthony and Mary (nee Rokas) Skrocki.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe, OH 44092.

To the family and friends of Mary Batton, I am deeply sorry for your lost. During such grieving times, having support and comfort are immeasurable. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 says that God is the Father of tender mercies and comfort, who comforts us in all our trials. How comforting it is to know you can turn to God for help!

So very sorry to hear of Mary Ann’s passing. She was such an exceptional person. We spent a lot of time together at OLMC HOT MEAL program serving on Mondays. She just would not give up even as her breathing got worse, she showed up every time. She Even called me every Friday for months when my husband was so sick and died in Jan. I could always count on her helping me thru my sadness. I visited her a few times after her stroke and took her out to dinner at Dino’s. I Was just getting ready to call her for the OLMC widows luncheon in Dec., I’m so sorry I didn’t get to talk to her again. I shall miss her tremendously especially at hot meal. My deepest sympathies to you and your families, she talked of you all so much.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to family and friends. May all of your good memories be greater than your sadness during this difficult time. (Isaiah 25:8)
