Obituary for Lloyd T "Tom" Evans

Lloyd T. “Tom” Evans, 85, of Mentor, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Atria Newell Creek in Mentor.
He was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Cleveland.
Tom was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, member of the Church of the Epiphany in Euclid and Pipefitters Local 120 for more than 60 years. He was founder and member of the Euclid Ski Club, participated in Ski races with the Cleveland Ski Council and the New York State Masters, and having been a junior ski coach for 11 years in Ohio through the USSA. Tom loved competing. He also loved and enjoyed being at his cottage in Geneva.
Tom was the beloved husband of 63 years to Joan S. (nee Osburn) Evans; loving father of Leigh A. Garam, Lynn M. (Douglas) Hutchings and Lorraine S. “Lori” (Peter) Sprockhoff; cherished grandfather of Mike, Rosie (Ben), Chris (Diane), Kyle (Ashley), Tyler and Brett (Tara); great-grandfather of Madison, James, Hayden, Harper, Felix and Leo; brother of John (Linda) Evans, Jim (Kristie) Evans; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander M. and Marie (nee Kelly) Evans; and sister, Jane Evans.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
