Obituary for Susan Nedlik

On January 2, 2019, we said goodbye to Susan Nedlik (née Karavantas) at the age of 83 in Euclid.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Ellen) Nedlik and Mark (Wendy) Nedlik; and grandchildren, Rachel, Samantha, Sydney, Suzanne, Stevie, Jake and Stan.
She was preceded in death by Steven Nedlik, her beloved husband of 23 years; eight siblings; parents, Angel and Catherine Karavantas (née Tangalakis); and her dogs, Ginger, Pirate and Dolly.
Susan was born July 7, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, and returned to Greece upon the death of her father. After reuniting with her mother in the U.S. in 1945, Susan went on to graduate from East High School, and eventually became a secretary in the Willoughby-Eastlake school system. Susan met the love of her life, Steve, when an inquiry regarding information on a bus route lead her to the roadside gas station where he worked. After a brief courtship, they married in a small ceremony in Cleveland. Steve and Susan adopted their sons, Steven and Mark and raised them in their home on the edge of Manry Park in Willowick. Steven and Mark went on to raise families of their own, making Susan a grandmother of seven beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed lively conversation with friends and loved ones over a cup of coffee. She was enthusiastic about her garden, often spending long summer days working on her roses. Her humor and effervescent personality will be sorely missed by both friends and family alike.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 6, at the McMahon-Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, January 7. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be directed to Hospice House of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
