Obituary for Mary Veronica Gillen

Funeral Mass for Mary V. Gillen, 85, of Willowick, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick. Father Steve Breck will officiate the Mass.
Mrs. Gillen passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Born April 28, 1933, in Youngstown, she had lived in Lake County for 60 years.
She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Willowick, where she was involved as a Eucharistic Minister, active in the Stephen Ministry, sang with the Morning Glories for funeral Masses, and was a knitter and crocheted of church vestment and Baptismal garments. She was an avid gardener, quilter and enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Gillen was a former employee of Fisher Foods, and retired from EDS after 30 years of service in 1995.
Mary was the loving mother of Jim P. (Patricia) Gillen, Mary Ellen (Roger) Jordan, Kathleen A. (Thomas) Cunningham, William F. (Donna) Gillen, Carol Ann (Mark) Thompson, and John E. (Paula) Gillen; cherished grandmother of Patrick, Kelly, Brandy, Rosemary (Carrie), Christine, and Joe (Lauren); great-grandmother of Theresa, Angelica, Vincent, Trenton, Hunter, Joey and Kiera; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Austin P. Gillen in 2000; parents, Francis J. and Helen V. (nee Sweeney) Eddy; and siblings, Francis J. (Ruth) Eddy and Ann Louis (Melton) Broom.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
