Obituary for Jane Shirilla

Jane (nee Gensert) Shirilla, nearly 96 years old, passed away at her home in Willoughby, late Sunday, January 13, 2019.
Jane was born April 6, 1923, in Cleveland, and lived in Cleveland/Euclid prior to moving to Willoughby in 1969. She was the youngest of seven children born to John and Rose (Stier) Gensert. Her siblings include brothers, Paul, John “Brud,” Tom, Edward, and sisters, Mary and Rosemary.
Jane enjoyed ice skating, golf and weekends at Lake Chautauqua with her husband, William “Bill” Shirilla and their beloved Beagle, Charlie.
Jane was a homemaker and prior to her marriage in 1969, was a secretary at Lubrizol. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends and visited family from as far as Florida to California.
Jane is survived by family including stepchildren, Thomas Shirilla and Theresa Hammond; niece, MaryJo (Paul) Shanahan; nephews, Tom (Janet) Gensert; Paul Gensert; several grandniece and nephews; and devoted friend, Sandie Sajner.
The family would like to thank Jane’s friends and caregivers for their compassionate, caring presence through life and to the end of her journey.
A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Parish, 37940 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby, with a brief visitation in the Parish vestibule prior to the Mass. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
