He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and an usher at the 4:30 Mass, and a former parishioner of St. Aloysius Church in Cleveland. Al also loved playing golf and ran the Mentor Senior Golf League for over 15 years, traveling around the country, especially to Las Vegas and Reno to see shows and gamble, and attending air shows. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor and would help anyone in need or was in trouble. Al even won first place in 1962 for his Christmas decorations and lights outside of his home.
