Obituary for Marianne R Newsome
Marianne R. (nee Carcione) Newsome, 84, of Highland Heights, passed away peacefully on the morning of Feb. 26, 2019, after a long illness.
She was born June 12, 1934.
She is survived by her dear husband of 61 years, Thomas E. Newsome II; five children, Connie (William) Larkman of Cleveland, Patricia (Charles) Zappola of Willoughby Hills, Thomas (Beverlee) Newsome of Kirtland, Christopher (Rose) Newsome of Willoughby, and Gary (Hallie) Newsome of Olmsted Falls; cherished grandmother of Kathleen Newsome (Brendan Dolan), Mary-Christina (Shane) Seipel, Giovanna, Jenna and Mercedes Newsome, Carla (Matthew Schaeperkoetter, and Alyssa Zappola, Joseph, Noah, Nicholas, Robert and Frank Newsome, and Charles Zappola; great-grandmother of Sean Newsome Dolan; sister, Toni (Dennis) Kelly and brother, Raymond (Cindy) Carcione; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the beloved eldest child of Sebastian “Sam” and Gaetana “Nettie” Carcione (nee Sorge), and a 1952 graduate of Heights High School. After attending Miami University, she worked at an airline, as a second grade teacher at Gesu and in a toy store. She became interested in real estate, got her license and worked for Hilltop Realty for several years. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own bridal shop, and later the Action Title Agency. She and her husband Tom were active members of Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic Church. They lived in the same home for more than 40 years, and considered many of their neighbors to be family.
An artistic person, Marianne was also a voracious reader, a talented singer, and a prolific seamstress. She was smart, sweet, and slightly stubborn. She loved crossword puzzles, geraniums, Shamrock Shakes, and fancy sweatshirts. She adored her grandchildren—a sentiment each one of them returned wholeheartedly.
“Marianne will be deeply missed by her loved ones, all of whom are grateful for the profound blessing she was in life. We don’t quite know how we will move forward without her, but we sure will try.”
Family will welcome friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 4, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. A Mass celebrating Marianne’s life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Road, Highland Hts. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
