Obituary for Constance A. Russell

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Constance A. (nee Campbell) Russell. Mom passed away Monday, September 23, 2019, at the Slovene Home for the Aged, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was 96 years young.

Born July 15, 1923, in Painesville, and raised in Willoughby, Ohio, Connie then resided in Cleveland Heights for the last 53 years. After raising her girls and the passing of her husband, Jim, she remained in the family home until a recent fall required that she have nursing care. Till the end, Connie was as sharp as a tack and had outstanding memory recall that was enviable.

Following her father’s footsteps in medicine, Connie became a Registered Nurse. She trained at Huron Rd. hospital, then moved to Chicago, working as a surgical nurse. She returned to Cleveland and worked at many of the industrial plants around town.

Connie was an avid bridge player, who encouraged all to learn the game to enrich their lives. She continued to solve bridge hands from the newspaper when she was no longer able to play at the Cleveland Heights Senior Rec. Center.

Connie was the beloved wife of the late James L. Russell (2002); loving mother of Chris (Marc) Davis, Mary Faith (Greg, deceased) Demeduc, Elizabeth “Beth/Liz” Russell, Eileen Russell (Rick Hawkins); cherished grandmother of Anne, Adam, and Alex; Daughter of the late Dr. Roderick and Margaret (nee Meers) Campbell; sister of the following deceased Pat, Tom, Jack, Suzanne, and Marilyn; also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition, many of Connie’s daughters' friends were big fans of Connie. She will be deeply missed by all. Family services to be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations be made in Connie’s name, to the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland. https://www.ursulinesisters.org/support-us/donate
