Obituary for Mary "Mae" Keenan

MARY “MAE” KEENAN (nee Moore), 90, of Cleveland Heights, passed away peacefully Sept. 30, 2019, with her family at her side. Loving wife of the late Joseph Keenan; loving mother of Mary (Mike, dec.), Patrick, Thomas (Martha), Theresa, Michael (Peggy), and Kevin; loving grandmother of Rebecca (Brian), Kevin, Joey, Riley, Daniel, Aran, Shana, Megan and Christopher; loving great-grandmother of Elizabeth, Addison and Michael; and loving sister-in-law of Evelyn Adams. Born May 1, 1929, in Westport County Mayo, Mae came to the U.S. in her 20s, met and married Joseph and settled in Cleveland Heights, where she raised a family, worked and was very active in Cleveland’s Irish Community. In 1998, The Cleveland Irish Societies chose her as “Irish Mother of the Year,” a fitting tribute to an amazing woman, who was a friend and mother to countless people throughout her life. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Saturday at St. Philomena Church, 13824 Euclid Ave., East Cleveland. Family will receive friends at McMAHON-COYNE-VITANTONIO FUNERAL HOME, 38001 EUCLID AVE., WILLOUGHBY FROM 1 TO 4 AND 6 TO 9 PM FRIDAY.
