Obituary for George Yaworski
George Yaworski, 96, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, at Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.
Born July 6, 1923, in Wilkes Barre, Pa., he had been a resident of Lake County for more than 50 years.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor. He had also worked as a tour guide on the Mather Museum.
He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Sharon L. (nee White) Yaworski; loving father of George Yaworski Jr., and William Hupp; cherished grandfather of Staci (Scott) Kidder, twins, Reagan (Brian) Camden and Ryan Yaworski, and Nathan Brown; great-grandchildren, Rylie, Paigem, Seth, Liam and McKenna; brother of Michael Yaworski, Nancy Petrick, Steve Yaworski and Anna Donavon; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Karon Yaworski; parents, Joseph and Amelia (nee Dzadus) Yaworski; and siblings, Joseph and John Yaworski and Mary Kornmeyer.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Ave., Mentor, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Private burial will be held in Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made in care of the family.
