Private Condolence

So sorry to hear of your loss. Bill and I were close friends in High School and I have some great memories of Bill playing football and having dinner at his house on Beech Street with his parents. I can only say that dinner we had was steak and did Bill like it raw. I think they fried it for 5 seconds on each side. I lost track of Bill over the years but sure he had a wonderful life. My condolences to the family. RIP Bill. Jerry Oberdorf

Mr. Shaw was my friend and mentor. I must’ve had lunch with him over 500 times at the CSC. He trusted me with his children to teach them tennis and he taught me the game of squash thru strategy and hard knocks on the court. We would laugh at his soft drink for lunch as he weened from coke to Diet Coke than half coke and Diet Coke and finally back to coke! He also invited me over to his beautiful rooftop penthouse to share wine with him and Gail. When I was married he gave me the wonderful gift of a beautiful bottle of champagne with two flutes. He said I want my gift to you and Monica to be enjoyed on your honeymoon! I still have those champagne flutes and even though the champagne is long gone I will toast my friend tonight. He had many accomplishments in business but he never bragged of these accomplishments .... his chest swelled and his tough posterior softened in the pride and joy he had when he spoke of his kids. He knew every split time in the pool for Missy and loved Billy’s zest for tennis, crew, and academia. My deepest sympathies and condolences to you all. Warm regards, Hari Sharma and Monica
