Agnes O. "Sue"  Popovich
Agnes O. "Sue" (nee Ftacnik) Popovich, age 93, of Kirtland, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Geauga Medical Center in Chardon with her family at her side.
She was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Caldwell, and was a resident of Kirtland for 45 years.
She was a founding member of Divine Word Catholic Church in Kirtland and a member of the Woman's Guild of the church. She was also a member of the Kirtland Senior Center and the High Five Seniors.
She retired after 20 years of service at the Western Reserve Convalescent Home in Kirtland, and loved working in her rose garden.
She was the loving mother of Michael P. (Denise) Popovich of Wickliffe and Stephen M. (Lu Anne Francis) Popovich of Lake Wylie, S.C.; mother-in-law of Laura Lane Popovich; cherished grandmother of eight; and great-grandmother of seven. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
She was the beloved wife of the late George J. Popovich, who passed away in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Anastasia Ftacnik; son, George J. Popovich, Jr.; and siblings, Michael Ftacnik, Arthur Ftacnik, James Ftacnik, and Mary Ducar.
Family and friends to meet for a memorial funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Divine Word Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland. Fr. Dave Woost, officiating. Burial will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
