Memorial services for Marilyn J. (nee Parenti) Hodgson, 79, of Mentor, will be 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Body of Christ Church, 38057 Erie Road, Willoughby. Pastor Mike Currier will officiate.
Mrs. Hodgson passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at her home in Mentor.
She was born March 30, 1936, in Cleveland.
Her working career started early in life at T.R.W. During her career, she was a HR manager at Higbee Company and Tempo in California. Marilyn also spent many years in the home healthcare field and finally as a school crossing guard for the Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department. Many of her most memorable years were spent in Southern California, before returning to Ohio to be near her family.
She was the loving mother of Bill (Robin) Gaw of Mentor-on-the-Lake and Lee Gaw of Mentor; cherished grandmother of Lee (Skyla) Gaw Jr., Cory Gaw and Michelle Gaw; great-grandmother of Cory Gaw Jr., and Paisley Gaw; sister of Patricia DeNiro; and aunt of Casey Hernandez, who was her caregiver, Cindy Howard, Darin DeNiro, Desiree (Tom) Kral and Linda Ford.
She was preceded in death by her son, David A. Gaw; second husband, Bill Hodgson; parents, Michael and Helen (nee Kuchenmeister) Parenti; brother, Michael Parenti; and sister, Roberta Clasen.
Burial will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
