Obituary for Tom E "Herky" Daly III
Tom E. “Herky” Daly III, 65, of Painesville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at his home after a herculean battle with head and neck cancer.
He was born June 22, 1950, in Cleveland, raised in Eastlake and attended Eastlake North. He lived throughout the tri-county area during his life, but enjoyed his years living in Rome Township, raising his family, having family parties, hunting, gardening, and chopping wood on his five acres of land.
Tom was a Union Electrician for I.B.E.W. Local 673 for 36 years and was proud to be a member. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed seeing the buildings throughout the area that he helped to wire.
He was a Cleveland Indians fan and some of our best memories were attending ballgames at Municipal Stadium. During this last season, he watched every game and this helped him to fight through his condition and treatments.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Tom (Monica) Daly of Mentor and Tina Sedar of Aurora; grandchildren, Susan, Tara, Michael, and David; parents, Tom Jr. and Lois; brothers, Robert (Jane) Daly and Ted (Linda) Daly; sisters, Janice (Wally) Zemaitis and Teri (Michael) Creadon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Daly; and sister, Donna Daly.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Lake Health/University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center of Mentor and Hospice of the Western Reserve.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave., (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 p.m.
