Obituary for Alice Marie Kuivila (Clark)

Alice Marie (Clark) Kuivila, age 87, of Mentor, Ohio, died May 7, 2016, while in hospice care at Golden Living Centers in Kirtland, Ohio. She was born November 7, 1928 in Painesville, Ohio, the only child of Mirza and Olen Clark. She graduated from Thomas W. Harvey High School in Painesville. She married Toivo (Toby) O. Kuivila on November 7, 1953 and raised their family on an 18 acre strawberry farm in Mentor, Ohio.
She is survived by her sons: Toby (Dr. Cecilia Moy) of Columbus, Ohio; Larry, of South Weber, Utah; and Eric (Kimberly) of Mentor; granddaughters, Katalyn, of Columbus, and Mallory, of Mentor; grandsons, David and Nathan, of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sons Marlowe and Allan (Deborah).
Alice had various occupations and was employed by The Cleveland Clinic, Wayside Gardens, Mentor Public Schools, as a school bus driver, and Faye Launders, Smythe-Cramer and Prudential Realtors as a realtor, to name a few.
She enjoyed researching her family genealogy, local and family history, gardening, traveling to and the jewelry of the Southwest, antiques, and her numerous pets over the years. She had volunteered at both Holden Arboretum in Kirtland and Lawnfield, home of James A. Garfield, in Mentor.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 1 to 4 PM at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Interment will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Medina County at a later date.
