Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew John “Andy” Hammer, 48, of Painesville will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor.
Mr. Hammer passed away July 18, 2016.
Born July 14, 1968, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for the past 22 years.
Andy commanded a room. His smile lit up the world. His hugs were mandatory and his friendships cherished. He adored his family and was extremely proud of his sons. Andy was a diehard Notre Dame fan, and volunteered endless hours to the St. Gabriel CYO Program.
He was the loving father of Matthew Thomas and Alex John Hammer, both of Mentor; son of Daniel W. Hammer of Amelia Island, Fla.; brother of Daniel W. (Jennifer) Hammer Jr. and Christine M. Hammer; and the loving uncle of Danny and Lillie Hammer, Julia and Caroline Sturges. He also leaves behind his friend and former wife, Lori Diane (nee Paisley) Hammer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Thornton (nee Squire) Hammer.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the St. Gabriel CYO Program or St. Gabriel Food Bank, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor, OH 44060.
