Obituary for David M "Smooth" Stewart

David M. “Smooth” Stewart, 63, Eastlake, passed away peacefully in his sleep, July 19, 2016.
Born Feb. 2, 1953, in Elyria he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County.
David had been involved with the Boy Scouts as a Scout Master, loved his family, friends and many adopted kids, and was a firm believer in the power of duct tape and zip ties. He had an open door and a “smooth” heart. Dave always made you feel welcome and toasty by his fire. He was an avid camper and loved the outdoors and walking his dogs. His one-liners were all as unforgettable as his eye-wear. May his soul rest in peace.
David worked at Barudan America for 26 years.
He is survived by his sons, Brandon M. Stewart of Springfield, and Ryan R. (Jamie) Stewart of Geneva; daughter, Tara (Josh) Vincent of Eastlake; mother, Rita Lefler; brother, Dennis (Terry) Stewart of Chuckey, Tenn.; in-laws, Larry and Jean Shriver; and grandchildren, Damien, Natalia, Ayden, Kayla, Emma and Eric.
Smooth is together again with the love of his life, Donna Stewart, who passed away April 3, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his father, Edward Stewart, as well as his brother, Danny.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, where a funeral service will be conducted by his son-in-law, Josh Vincent at 7:30 p.m.
