A Celebration of Life for Michael Douglas Keene, Jr., 36, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Willoughby, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. April 15, 2017, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave., (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m.
Michael passed away March 25, 2017, in Florida.
He was born April 16, 1980, in Willoughby.
Michael attended Willoughby South High School and later graduated from the National Aviation Academy in Florida as a Certified Airline Mechanic in 2003. Michael was always a dedicated hard worker who loved working on planes, cars, bikes and anything else that he could fix. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, camping and yardwork, especially in Virginia where Grandma Keene has a summer home. He loved going to concerts and listening to music especially the Grateful Dead. Like his mother, Michael loved animals especially his birds, Dexter and Hotshot. Michael had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. “He will be in our hearts forever.”
Michael D. Keene Jr. was the treasured son of Michael D. Keene Sr.; beloved brother of Marisa M. Keene, Joanna A. Hamilton and Bryan S. Keene; cherished grandson of Grace K. (Frank Hagar) Alfieri of Willoughby and Arlene J. Keene of New Port Richey, Fla.; dearest nephew of Richard C. Alfieri, Michael D. (Connie) Alfieri, Mark J. Alfieri in Ohio, and Cindy J. (Bruce) Hoogerwerf, Diane S. Keene and Virgil S. Keene, all of Florida; and the loving uncle and cousin of many.
Michael was reunited with his loving adoring mother, Denise M. Keene, who passed away March 12, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his grandfathers, Virgil M. Keene and Richard M. Alfieri; and great-grandparents, “Nana” and “Papa” (Sadie and Ted) and “Big Pa” and “Lil Ma” (Steward and Alie).
