Obituary for Warren Wissman

Warren Wissman
Mass of Christian Burial for Warren Wissman, age 80, of Willoughby, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Wissman passed away June 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Warren was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Shalersville, grew up in Wickliffe and moved to Willoughby after he got married, where he lived until he died.
Warren was a U.S. Army veteran. He was generous with his time and was active at Immaculate Conception Church over the years including Parish Council, Oktoberfest, Holy Name Society and Bingo, which he managed for many years. Warren served as president of the Holy Name Society of Immaculate Conception, Lake-Geauga Deanery, and Cleveland Diocese. Warren lived the principles of the Holy Name Society every day.
Warren retired from the Lake County Health Department after 28 years of service. Upon his retirement, he loved to travel, enjoyed many bus trips across the U.S. with Rosemary as well as trips with his family. He especially loved Hawaii, having spent a year there to obtain his Masters of Public Health in 1973. In later years, Warren suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and although it slowed him down, he never lost his sense of humor.
Warren is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosemary (nee Dlouhy); brother, Bernie Wissman; and his five daughters, Kathryn Robinette, Mary, Susan, Margaret, and Jennifer (Billy) Grunwald.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucile Wissman; and favorite cat, Joey.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in Willoughby Cemetery.
The family suggests donations in Warren's memory to the University of Hawaii School of Public Health, General Scholarship #120-1714-4, at https://giving.uhfoundation.org, or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
