Funeral Mass for John Trussa, 85, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Father Tom Johns will officiate. Mr. Trussa passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at Heartland of Mentor. Born March 8, 1925, in Monessen Pa., he had been a resident of Lake County for 53 years, living in Willoughby before moving to Mentor 23 years ago. He was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor since 1988, was active with the Boy Scouts when his sons were growing up and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II from June 1943 to October 1948. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War from October 1949 to April 1954. John worked for General Electric at the Willoughby Quartz Plant from more than 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was also a member of the General Electric-Willoughby Quartz Retir-eaze for more than 20 years. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Dolores "Dee" (DiSantis) Trussa, whom he married Aug. 10, 1957; loving father of Janice (Tony) Spendal of Eastlake, Kenneth Trussa of Willoughby and David (Melissa) Trussa of Spring Hill, Tenn.; cherished grandfather of Brian, Jamie and Julie Spendal, Colin and Brielle Trussa, Adam and Tyler Holland and Jonathan Trussa; brother-in-law of Mary Trussa of Charleroi, Pa.; uncle and great-uncle of many; and a good and loyal friend, neighbor, cousin and brother-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Hricik) and John Trussa Sr.; and siblings, Paul Trussa and Ann Koren; and half-brother, Joe Trussa. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
